Meet KatÂ
Kat Lane is the founder and director of On Your Way Gap Advising.
Kat has worked in the gap year and experiential travel industry for years as a guide, program director, and advisor. Kat guided four 70 day gap semesters (South America: Peru and Ecuador, Hawaiian Islands, Indonesia and Fiji, and Rocky Mountain West), as well as many summer programs (Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Vermont, US Virgin Islands, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton) for several different gap year and experiential education companies. Kat knows what it’s like to be on the ground with gap year students, and how to support their growth before, during, and after a gap year or semester. She also has extensive solo travel experience, and has spent meaningful time in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Fiji, Nepal, Sumatra, Bali, Peru, Ecuador, Morocco, Spain, Mexico, Germany, Denmark, Scotland, Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.

Because of her connections in the industry, Kat has deep inside knowledge of how programs differ from each other and how to match student strengths and growing areas with the right program or independent travel experience.

Before she started On Your Way, Kat recognized the need for integration and support post-gap year in her own students and started a mentorship program to help young people with this transition. Her passion is working with young people as they discover this incredible world with fresh eyes.
Prior to graduating with a dual degrees in Anthropology and Geography from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA, Kat took a gap year of her own, spending most of her year in Nepal living with a local family and volunteering with an environmental conservation program. She believes in the power of a gap year more than just about anything else.
Starting On Your Way was a natural extension of the gap industry expertise that Kat has been building for years. She loves that she is able to stay connected to students and families as they learn, grow, expand, and discover.
In her free time, Kat is also passionate about making music, yoga, meditation, salsa dancing, running, spending time in the mountains, traveling (of course!), and cooking good food for her friends and family in Boulder, Colorado.
